Why Minerals?
Put back a little of what daily life takes out.
The concept of mineral makeup is very simple it’s “Makeup that’s actually good for the skin” or “Skincare with color”.
Mineral Mine finely mills their ingredients. The smaller particles of mineral powder adhere better to the skin and repel humidity from entering the skin, thus little touch up is required. They provide an extremely durable coverage.
Minerals protect from UVA and UVB rays with a physical, non-chemical SPF made of Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide. They also act as a barrier from environmental pollutants that easily irritate sensitive skin.
By not introducing any talc into the minerals, makeup does not look or feel as dry or powdery, the color is rich and not diluted and there is little “fall-off”.
Minerals allow skin to function normally. The absence of oils allows skin to breathe in a non-comedogenic, or no-clogging atmosphere.
Minerals allow the skin to repair itself in a non-comedogenic atmosphere. Excess oil and sweat is released, while being naturally anti-microbial and anti-bacterial. Oily skin will normalize and balance out oil production.
Without irritating perfumes, dyes, chemical sunscreen or preservatives, it is a wonderful solution for delicate skin.
Minerals help oily skin balance out oil production by releasing trapped oil. Think of it as a screen door; air flows through while bugs stay out.
Minerals make the skin look flawless with light diffusing spheres. Rounded edges means that light bounces off the skin and refracts the light for an all over soft focus glow.
Things like dyes can be carcinogenic and perfumes and chemicals can cause allergic reactions. An all-mineral based makeup is very low risk for sensitive skin.
Dry mineral foundations will last much longer on the shelf because there aren’t any oils compared to liquid foundation. Without any added oils or alcohol, minerals are naturally self-preserving.
Minerals can last at least of couple of years. This is great for those who don’t wear makeup often and are worried about spoilage.
Minerals are three times more concentrated then conventional talc based makeup. A little goes a long way. Often there is enough on a previously used brush for a second application.
It would take three talc based shadows to compare to one Mineral shadow.
Mineral powder is a four in one product. It is a concealer, foundation, powder and sunscreen in one compact. The minerals become part of the skin for natural color and texture. The look and feel will continue to improve.
Eye shadows make great liner colors when applied with water or an eyeliner sealer. One color can be very versatile depending on the brush choice. Compared to talc based eye shadow; the shadow won’t get a white, hard film on top.
Mineral blushes can be used on lips, eyes and cheeks. Get SPF protection and water resistant durability. Minerals don’t break down in water like conventional makeup that separates and streaks. Since it is essentially a clay rock, minerals are non-soluble.
Minerals are great to wear anywhere, especially on the face, chest, arms and legs without transferring onto clothing.
The Difference Between Mineral Make-up and Conventional Make-up
Conventional makeup uses talc, oils, alcohol, dyes, perfumes, chemical SPF, added preservatives, fillers and binders.
Mineral Mine Makeup is mainly Mica, Titanium Dioxide, and Zinc Oxide . It is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and has a low allergy rating. The Titanium and the Zinc also provides a natural physical sunscreen. Iron Oxides define the color.
Though talc is a mineral, it is much less expensive to manufacture; it is used to stretch out the color and rarely, does it look the same on the skin as in the pan. It requires more than one application and needs to be retouched more often. Talc makes the skin look and feel dry and doesn’t cling to the skin as well as mineral makeup.
Imperfections are more noticeable and so are fine lines because larger Talc molecules add a whole other layer on top of the skin. They aren’t very good at deflecting light, therefore the skin doesn’t look dewy, fresh or revitalized. Round, polished mineral particles deflect the light; then refracts and diffuses it for a moist and hydrated look.
Minerals are finely milled (micronized) to an ultra fine powder so you need less product for full, all over coverage. Larger Talc molecules leave gaps so it takes multiple layers to cover all the skin. The larger the molecule, the less it moves with the skin, thus tending to be less uniform and heavier looking. This type of milling creates a better barrier to repel humidity and bleed-through since there are no small gaps that can occur with inadequate milling. Think of large marbles versus small sand.
Once put on, stays on! All it takes is one thin layer of minerals for durable, long lasting color. All it takes is body heat and the skin’s natural oils and moisture to create a flawless no-show coverage with a healthy and youthful glow.
It’s easy to change shades without the hard line. Conventional makeup uses F, D and C colorants to match skin tone and then replaces it. Mineral makeup matches your tone and then adapts to it. It naturally blends into the skin seamlessly. It truly looks like color from the inside. The natural blush and contours of the face remain intact.
It would take three conventional shadows to compare to the richness of one mineral-based eye shadow. This non-diluted pigment also lasts three times longer on the skin!

Mineral Make-up Ingredients
Micronized Titanium Dioxide: Active ingredient that provides natural, non-chemical SPF coverage, it scatters UV light. Is considered to be the ideal UVA / UVB protection component given its chemical, cosmetic, and physical characteristics. It is non-toxic and anti-inflammatory.
Micronized Zinc Oxide: Is used to protect, soothe, and heal the skin. Zinc oxide provides an excellent barrier to the sun and other irritants. It is somewhat astringent, antiseptic and antibacterial. It provides both UVA and UVB protection. Is an inert earth mineral used as a thickening, whitening, lubricating and sunscreen ingredient in cosmetics. It is anti-microbial and helps withdraw impurities and does not need any extra preservatives.
Iron Oxide:. A natural colorant, this oxide, when mixed with oxygen will vary in color from red, yellow, orange, brown and black. Contributes some slight sunscreening ability. Used to create skin tones.
Bismuth Oxychloride: Derived from the earth’s crust, this ingredient is used as a skin protectant; which is both anti-inflammatory and oil absorbing. Has a velvety, opaque texture. It may also be used for pearlization in cosmetics.
Boron Nitride: An inorganic powder that has absorbent properties. Its crystals glow and reflect light giving a product a sparkle effect.
Octyl Palmitate: Used as a thickening agent. A nongreasy, nonoily moisturizing ester with good spreadability and good solvency properties.
Cyclomethicone: Provides a silky, smooth feel to skin care products, and is considered a noncomedogenic emollient. This is a form of silicone that can deliver active ingredients and also serve as a vehicle for delivering fragrance.
Green Tea Extract: A powerful antioxidant due to its catechin content, it is also known to be antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and a stimulant. This is attributed to the catechin component’s ability to penetrate into a cell, thereby protecting the cell from free radicals and associated damage. It can also reduce skin swelling.
Mica: Used as a texturizer and coloring agent in cosmetics. Crystallized minerals that give “slip, shine and sparkle”. Non-toxic and inert, mica varies in color from colorless to pale green, brown or black. Also resists ultra violet light.
Superoxide Dismutase: Used in cosmetic preparations to prevent drying and aging of the skin without causing irritation. An enzyme that can serve as an inhibitor of free-radical production and a free-radical scavenger.
Catalase: Enzyme that has significant anti-oxidant properties.
Apple Extract: Has soothing properties and can be beneficial for dry skin. Reduces effects of free radicals that cause premature aging. Acts as a gentle fruit exfoliator. The pectin derived from apples is used as a thickener and emulsifier in cosmetics.
Horseradish Extract: Traditionally used against sunburns, superficial and other non-extensive burns, and to give the skin clarity and freshness. Its antiseptic and skin-clearing properties are linked to its ascorbic acid content.
Phospholipids: Used topically as a moisture / emollient because of their inherent compatibility with skin lipids. Phospholipids are complex fat substances that, together with protein, form the membrane of all living cells.
Retinyl Palmitate: Vitamin A – An anti-oxidant that protects cells from free radicals. It improves elasticity, moisture content and suppleness while reversing the signs of aging. It helps to normalize skin while reducing excess oil. Plays an important role in cell division. Acts as a barrier from bacteria. Being insoluble in water; it replaces oils and fats to provide uniform composition and preservation.
Tocopheryl Acetate: Vitamin E – A natural preservative, anti-oxidant and moisturizer that holds water in the skin and helps it to heal. Helps prevent scarring. Helps skin breathe and function normally. Considered the most important oil-soluble antioxidant and free-radical scavenger. Helps to reduce transepidermal water loss, thereby improving the appearance of rough, dry, and damaged skin.
Vitamin D: Acts as a keratinization regulator, helping to improve skin feel and firmness with repeated use. This vitamin is absorbed through the skin’s outer layers. Generally found in combination with Vitamin A as such a mixture appears to help epithelial growth and good pigmentation. An excellent skin nutrient and anti-oxidant which has corrective qualities which soothe the skin.
Lavender: Is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, antispasmodic, balancing, energizing, soothing, healing, tonic, and stimulating. Is said to normalize any skin type, and stimulate cellular growth and regeneration. Its benefit to the dermis is immediate since it is easily and rapidly absorbed by the skin.
Sandlewood, Geranium and Ylang Ylang: These botanicals are described as refreshing, anti-irritant, astringent, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, mildly tonic, cooling, and soothing. Although good for all skin types, it is of particular benefit to oily and acne skins, and those with inflammatory tendencies.
